Celsius Coffee Co, Kirribilli review: million dollar views

Celsius Coffee Co

Famous for its peanut butter waffles and sparkling sea views, wharf side cafe Celsius Coffee Co is making waves in the food world.

Over the last 12 months, the Kirribilli venue has received a flood of positive reviews by the industry’s top bloggers, while it’s Instagram following has grown to over 10,000.

Managing partner Steven Chrun credits the cafe’s new-found success to its head chef, Jordan Hajek.

“Last year we were able to bring Jordan on board, an excellent chef from Melbourne’s Top Paddock cafe,” says Chrun.

“He was able to transform our entire menu and offer food based on his philosophy, which involved high-quality fresh produce, grown and harvested locally, delivered to our customers on a plate.”

The all-day brunch menu was completely revamped, with Hajek inventing fun and creative dishes that go against the tide.

Breakfast staples such as the bacon and egg roll were given a shake-up, with new additions such as a green apple chutney and finger lime segments.

Hajek also took on the traditional eggs benedict, trading up the ham for lamb, and adding Japanese citrus fruit yuzu to the homemade hollandaise.

If you’re interested to try the food blogger special, the most Instagrammed dish on the menu is the Celsius waffles with summer berries, toasted nuts, peanut butter cream and edible flowers.

Crunchy on the outside and chewy in the middle, the pink-plated dish has proven a big hit with locals and foodies alike.

Food isn’t the only thing that Celsius does well, with the cafe churning out excellent coffee, courtesy of Canberra roaster ONA Coffee.

“ONA Coffee received a gold medal in the Golden Bean Roasting Championship 2017 and their CEO was awarded the World Barista Champion in 2015,” says Chrun.

Celsius Coffee Co serves two ONA blends; The Hitman, a full-bodied ‘comfort’ coffee with notes of caramel, malt and spices and The Founder, a creamy black forest blend with chocolate and red fruit flavours.

For the non-coffee drinkers there’s Botanica cold-pressed juices as well as herbal infusions by specialty tea providores, Tea Craft.

Located in a rustic shed-like structure on Kirribilli wharf, the setting isn’t bad either, with the renovated cafe capitalising on the fresh sea air and million dollar views.

Undeniably, the most stunning feature is the walls — or lack thereof — which have been completely removed and replaced with glass to create 270 degree water views.

“For those looking to escape their fast-paced environment, our window seats offer breathtaking views across Sydney Harbour,” says Chrun.

“Working here every day with that view leaves me speechless. It makes coming to work feel like a holiday.”
