A stalwart of the riverside dining scene, Alchemy consistently delivers approachable food with impeccable technique. The years spent by chef-owner Brad Jolly in the kitchens of Michelin-starred chefs in the UK is abundantly evident in dishes such as crispy zucchini flowers with marinated goats cheese and truffled honey, sprinkled with teeny kale chips, and in gnocchi with braised goat and beef ragu, the little pasta pillows dissolving in the mouth and dressed with a rich sauce including green olives, dice zucchini and carrot.

Other wholesome choices including double-baked three cheese souffle with Swiss browns, garlic chives and porcini aioli. Juicy pork is braised for eight hours and comes with ancient grains, French beans and quince sauce. Desserts are similarly exciting and refined, with a coconut caramel parfait, pineapple, lime carpaccio, strawberries and passionfruit gelato the right blend of sweet and tart. The service is terrific — friendly, knowledgeable, and receptive to feedback, and the Australian-heavy wine list is every bit as fabulous as the Story Bridge and Brisbane River vista. With outdoor seating as well as a cosy curved concrete bar with dramatic rose gold lighting, Alchemy is a quiet achiever that ticks all the boxes.
