Lazy Susan’s Eating House is quite the seductress with her sultry ruby- red paint job, wall of handwritten confessions and the whisky locker that allows patrons to choose a bottle and save it for next time. But it’s the no-nonsense menu of Chinese and Vietnamese dishes – with the occasional Nonya laksa and Thai noodle dish thrown in–that keeps people coming back. During the week, choose from rice and noodle plates, soups and bao featuring various combinations of excellent crisp-skinned roast duck, pork, chicken and beef.
On weekends, Lazy Susan’s is one of the few Darwin venues to offer yum cha. Think fluffy, moreish buns, dumplings and rolls including banh cuon (steamed Vietnamese rice paper rolls filled with pork, black fungus and bean sprouts) and, if you dare, chicken feet and tripe. There’s no trolley service – just fill in the form and wait. Service is speedy.
