From the warm, cheerful welcome and the on point bistro food to the comfortable, bustling vibe, this is an outfit that brings its A-game day after day.

Situated in the heart of the under-construction new town centre of the Sunshine Coast’s Maroochydore, Market Bistro offers a broad yet tightly themed menu. Start with snacks, breads and oysters, entrees including duck liver parfait, a delicious mushroom and onion tart or house-made pasta.

Mains including duck frites, a roast pork chop with mustard and tarragon sauce, grilled Mooloolaba swordfish with Cafe de Paris butter or steaks with a hill of hot, crisp shoestring fries, gem lettuce and pickled onion with a choice of sauces.

Prices are reasonable, and portions are generous, while the wait staff are knowledgeable and jovial without overdoing it. Supplemented by an adjoining bottle shop where diners can make selections, the drinks list is strong, with cocktails, local craft beers, non-alcoholic options and a wine list with well-priced, by-the-glass choices that are poured at the table and a hefty wine selection including plenty of French drops for diners who want to go down the rabbit hole of a full French bistro experience.

Desserts keep it safe with the likes of tiramisu and a fine pavlova roulade accessorised with blueberry compote, lemon curd and basil, the final flourish from a very well-run operation.
