51. Noosa Beach House Peter Kuruvita, Noosa

Qweekend restaurant review: Noosa Beach House

it may not be on the beach or in a house, but the Sofitel Noosa Resort’s Noosa Beach House does boast the soothing, relaxed vibes of the holiday hotspot – albeit with a slightly up-market spin.

The restaurant of TV chef Peter Kurvita is a calming oasis tucked behind the bustling street-fronting bar, with bleached blonde wooden chairs, intimate egg lights on white-clothed tables and delicate drapes for privacy.

Just as refined as the setting is the menu, with Kuruvita calling on his Sri Lankan heritage to deliver an offering replete with oceanic fare, including steamed blue mussels with jaffna curry and roti, Noosa spanner crab with egg yolk curry, and his now signature snapper curry that allows for the diner to adjust it to their own tastes.

An ever-changing crustacean listing is also available to be cooked one of three ways, while meatlovers aren’t forgotten with everything from roasted pork belly with yellowfin tuna, pickled beetroot and chilli salt to roasted lamb loin with native spinach.

Carefully selected to complement the aromas and spice of the chef’s fare is the wine list, which includes an array of seasonal selections by predominantly big name labels, as well as a generous by-the-glass and half-bottle offering. Fun cocktails designed for balmy weather are also available alongside the classics.

With service adept and polite, this is a restaurant worth getting out of the surf for.

Exceptional dish: Snapper curry
