Otis Dining Hall
In a former Belgian beer cafe, this Kingston quiet achiever is taking the notion of local to a new level with spins on classic dishes and a genuine welcoming warmth. It feels like an old-school steakhouse with dark wood panelling, mirrors, chandeliers and a big bar, but the atmosphere is laid-back, the wine, beer and cocktail list as accessible as it is adventurous. The food is packed with flavour and generosity, as seen in a beef tartare layered with the rich umami of smoked eel, or a bright pea-green risotto enriched with a soft poached egg. Desserts head right down memory lane: creme caramel, lemon meringue, ice cream. Brilliant
