Having already conquered the French bistro, hospo trio Dan Pepperell, Michael Clift and Andy Tyson have turned their attention to the tratt.

Their latest locale, Pellegrino 2000, is our number one spot for fresh pasta, focaccia, fritto misto and more. Located in a two-storey former terrace, you’ll want to book well in advance if you’re to score a spot in the retro-inspired dining room, or better yet, the candle-lit dine-in wine cellar downstairs. But surprisingly, some of the best seats are out on the street. A dedicated wine window is the perfect place to stop for a sangiovese and snack.

Get started with the chicken liver crostini, featuring two big blushing lobes on golden toast. Former Alberto’s Lounge chef Pepperell puts his impressive pasta skills into play with the prawn ravioli, featuring five silky pillows pooled in a luscious butter sauce (un altro, per favore!).

As for dessert, your inner child will delight in the limongello – a jellified limoncello set in scooped-out lemon skins. Pellegrino’s signature drink is thankfully not water, but wine; endless bottles of barolo and chianti line the walls, offering plenty of inspiration. The Bistrot 916 boys have delivered another winner. We can’t wait to see what comes next.
