An elegant black and cream interior with red banquette booths, Art Deco pendant lighting and wallpaper murals of “la famiglia” are the ideal setting for Tony Percuoco’s classic Italian cuisine.

Faithful to his home town of Naples, with a nod to surrounding regions of Umbria, Tuscany and Abruzzo, the food is quite simply art on a plate – a beautiful aesthetic of texture, seasonality and flavour.

Carpaccio di manzo is so much more than slivers of raw beef and the usual Parmesan, olive oil and lemon – here, it springs to life with chips of Jerusalem artichoke, pickled forest mushrooms, truffle and peppery rocket. Perfectly pink sous vide rack of lamb is offset with basil green mash, herb butter and golden roasted artichokes, while chargrilled swordfish is blanketed with a heady mix of capers, green olives, grilled zucchini, oregano and lemon-infused olive oil.

With the last sip of a 2014 pinot nero from Veneto, courtesy of the diverse, Italian-centric wine list bulging with interesting and hard to come by varietals, panna cotta al miele brings measured sweetness with honey, berries and a ball of gelato.

Smart service, a handsome bar and adjoining white-tiled pizzeria (try the margherita) complete this classic Italian experience.
