While the premium produce and vast wine list are noteworthy at this Noosa institution, the overwhelming attraction is the location.
The jaw-dropping outlook is across the sand to the glistening waters of Laguna Bay from the prime beachfront site at the southern end of Hastings St. As they lap up the view, diners settled in at the white-clothed tables can choose from a 600-bottle wine list that encompasses a repertoire of NV and vintage Champagnes, a suite of Penfolds Grange and Henschke Hill of Grace and white and red Burgundys.
Seafood features heavily with starters such as crisp tortillas topped with delicious diced Mooloolaba tuna and avocado, as well as Fraser Coast scallops, sand crab lasagne and Fraser Coast king prawns. Mains are also largely from the trawler, including coral trout and barramundi, prawn linguine, and butter-poached Moreton Bay bug accompanied by caesar salad.
For the carnivorous, grass-fed eye fillet, wagyu 9-plus rump cap and lamb rack are options. Desserts are traditional with French apple tart, crème caramel and chocolate pudding on offer as well as a range of cheeses including a couple from local producer Woombye Cheese Company.
