It's World Nutella Day: make these treats and rejoice
But it's not like we ever need an excuse...
“Who crowned today, February 5, World Nutella Day?”, you may ask.
Nutella is so ingrained in the culture of our craving rituals, our treaty self spoiling, already; do we really need a whole day to rejoice over a simple chocolate hazelnut spread? It’s not even Australian.
Why do we need a Nutella day? There are so many bogus food days kicking around already. Why, just last month there was National Corn Chip, Pastrami, Peanut Butter and Popcorn Day in America alone. Tomorrow? Ice Cream for Breakfast Day. True story.
Nutella claims the celebratory day was a fan’s initiative, founded in 2007, and that it’s now seen as a “global phenomenon”. The company’s suggestions for celebrating? Write a song or poem, take a selfie, or relive your first Nutella experience.
What a lot of fuss. Instead, get stuck in to one of Phoebe Wood’s deep-fried Nutella ice-cream jaffles. They are out of this world.
Prefer something healthier? Ditch the processed jar of spread, and make your own, from scratch.
Then use it to whip up Matt Preston’s very grown-up toasties.
Or any of our other Nutella-inspired goodies.
