It’s all systems go for this Michelin-starred Brit as he revs up to open the hotly anticipated Kensington Street Social in Chippendale, Sydney’s most talked-about new dining postcode. Jason shares a few foodie faves.
Best place for a caffeine fix?
For a caffeine fix, I love Paramount Coffee Project in Surry Hills, Sydney. Tap Coffee in London is also great – there are a few around the city and a bicycle always hangs above the door.
A chef to watch?
Lee Westcott is making waves at his UK venue, Typing Room. He’ll get a Michelin star this year.
Ingredient you can’t get enough of?
Good Cornish Sea Salt is my desert island ingredient. It makes everything taste better.
The local I can’t live without?
I’m desperate to eat at Ben Shewry’s Attica and Dan Hunter’s Brae, both in Victoria.
Favorite kitchen gadget?
My must-have kitchen gadget? At home it’s the KitchenAid blender – the only blender suitable for a chef to use at home. You get the same finish as in a commercial kitchen.
Top tipple?
My top tipple is a classic negroni served with olives at Belmond Hotel Slendido in Portofino, Italy.
Best place for a night out?
Marylebone is challenging London’s West End. There are a lot of cool hotels and coffee shops opening up.
