Traditional South African rooibos tea adds unique flavour to these delicious poached pears.
Ingredients (4)
- 1 cup (220g) caster sugar
- 2 rooibos tea bags
- 4 beurre bosc pears, peeled, cored
- Vanilla ice cream, to serve

1.Combine the sugar, tea and 1.5L (6 cups) water in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to the boil, remove from heat, then stand for 10 minutes to infuse.

2.Discard tea bags and return pan to medium heat. Bring to the boil, add pears, then cover with baking paper. Cook for 15-20 minutes until tender.

3.Remove pears from pan. Cook liquid for a further 10 minutes or until a syrup.

4.Serve pears with syrup and ice cream.
