Fitzroy's Bad Frankie is so, so good

Bad Frankie

The name might imply naughtiness, but Bad Frankie is anything but.

Showcasing the best home-grown (bottled) vodkas, gins, whiskies and more, you can sit on a nip or see how they play in such clever cocktails as a Sunday Roast Old Fashioned – a lamb fat washed version of the classic served over ice with rosemary and mint – or a Salty Dog Martini – an Aussie take on a dirty martini thanks to a salt bush spritz.

And what to snack on while getting into the oi! oi! oi! spirt(s)? Why, jaffles, of course. Whether a classic – house-baked beans with vintage cheddar – or inventive – poached chicken with mayo and celery and pine nuts – these sop when supped most elegantly. And the best way to finish a night here is with another icon transformed with a twist – a lamington jaffle. Filled with jam, two choc sponge cake slices are pressed in the iron until warm, rolled in coconut and served wtih thick double cream.

Aussie snacks and booze done right – oh Bad Frankie, you’re so very, very good.
