They're topped with clotted cream, fresh figs and honey in Queensland.
As the name suggests, this minimalist café commits to sourcing all their goods from within a 160km radius. You may assume this translates to healthy fare, but don’t be fooled: but Locavore does not deal in #guiltfree.
You want pancakes? How about gingerbread ones, amped up with a decent dose of clotted cream, jammy fresh figs and Bee One Third honey? French toast is loaded with chocolate and hazelnuts, balanced out with zingy raspberry sorbet, and crowned with spun sugar. Savoury options are more refined, with the likes of citrus-cured rainbow trout on rye, with scrambled eggs and horseradish cream, or vegan-friendly slow-roasted mushrooms with macadamia and black garlic tofu. If you do have your heart set on something more waist-line friendly, try the warm coconut, ginger and citrus quinoa, with sautéed greens, avocado and soft eggs, or one of the leafy salads in the cabinet.
The coffee just scraps into their self-imposed distance rule, sourced from Marvell St Roaster in Byron Bay, with organic tea blends from Byron’s Mayde label and Bunker heirloom hot chocolate.
The location, housed in the base of a multi-use residential complex away from Woolloongabba’s main dining strips, is a bit odd, but hey, it does save you from waging war with the car parking gods.
