64. Bistro C, Noosa

On a sunny day in Noosa there are few more idyllic locales than beachfront diner Bistro C.

Set as close to the beach as you can get, the restaurant presents elevated seaside fare. While the ambience is relaxed and unpretentious, the bistro’s distinct elegance assures diners they’ve not wandered into a tourist hotspot.

Top-notch wines, tropical cocktails and locally brewed beers set the tone for an effervescent meal. Inside, a white-swathed backdrop and gently hued decor allows dishes to shine bright.

There’s a good reason Bistro C’s calamari is famed, with its melt-on-the-tongue quality. Partnered with lemon, chilli, coriander and a high sun, this dish conjures the air of an express holiday. Seafood is never overdone nor overdressed.

For a sustaining lunch, the Penang seafood curry with roti is deliciously fragrant, while a yellowfin tuna tartare brings piquant flavour and verve to the fore. To finish, lime and avocado cheesecake with a mandarin and mint sorbet forms an energising ending to a great meal.
