Alex Herbert
Sydney chef Alex Herbert began her cooking career in 1989, starting as an apprentice chef in the busy kitchen of Berowra Waters Inn, under the direction of Gay Bilson and Janni Kyritsis. From then, Alex has worked with kitchen legends, including Maggie Beer, Christine Manfield, David Thompson and Martin Boetz.
In 1996, Alex opened her casual, produce-driven bistro, Bird Cow Fish, in Sydney’s Surry Hills, which scored her a chef’s hat. These days, Alex’s passion for produce has drawn her out of the kitchen to Sydney’s Carriageworks Farmer’s Markets, where you can catch her every Saturday serving her legendary zucchini bread, orange butter cake and ‘Crooked Madames’ for breakfast. Alex is a delicious. Produce Awards NSW state judge.
