David Allison

David ‘STIX’ Allison is a chef and the founder of STIX. David first tried his hand at cooking by accident; during his gap year while working as a jackeroo on a cattle station in Queensland’s far north, David was called upon to stand in for the camp cook and his natural talent led him to quickly take over the role.

David’s uncompromising quality, consistency and creativity have generated an incredible, game-changing business. In addition to founding the many arms of STIX, David was the major force behind the Sydney eco-eatery Greenhouse by Joost, and, working alongside friend and colleague Neil Perry, supplied Qantas with their First and Business Class meals for many years.

Looking to constantly evolve and innovate, David regularly travels abroad to keep abreast of global cooking trends including time in the kitchen at Heston Blumenthal’s world-renowned restaurant in London, The Fat Duck, Andoni Luis Aduriz’s Mugaritz in Spain, and Brett Graham’s The Ledbury in London.
