Jessi Singh's Adelaide outpost is just like an Aussie barbecue. Words by Jessica Dempster.

Making everyone feel right at home – and an “unauthentic” menu which includes dishes decorated with flowers – is the recipe for success at popular Indian eatery Daughter in Law.

There’s a party atmosphere, thanks to the vibrant pink and turquoise decor and feel-good 1970s and ‘80s soundtrack. The Rundle Street restaurant even has an open beer-fridge policy.

Owner and chef Jessi Singh said diners were welcome to help themselves to beverages, like they would at an Aussie barbecue. “Daughter in Law is popular because it’s very cool, funky and fun, with unauthentic Australian Indian food,” he said.
