Here are all the delicious things you can eat for free in Bondi this weekend

A dining village (with free food) is popping up in Bondi this weekend

With royal red prawn sliders and spanner crab rolls on the menu, we’ll take one of everything.

Cancel your weekend plans. Find some of the city’s best restaurants at the American Express Shop Small Dining Village, a free food festival that is taking over Bondi Beach this Sunday. That’s right, thanks to American Express, some of Sydney’s favourite venues will be plating up snack-size dishes that won’t cost you a penny.

From 11.30am-2pm, the menu is cafe brunch meets street food chic. One of Bondi’s most popular brunch spots, Shuk, will be serving up its signature bakery delights like rugelach, spinach bourekas and mini donuts.

Hungry Paulie, an institution in Eastwood, will be bringing the flavour of Taiwan to the streets of Bondi, cooking up deep-fried street food.

Vegetarians can indulge in Chachu’s Sydney’s veggie samosas served with mint and yoghurt sauce or sample Eat Istanbul’s spinach and cheese gozleme. For the meat lovers, you can also opt to have ground beef, or chicken, with mushroom and cheese gozleme with Eat Istanbul’s signature hot sauce.

Gusto Italian Bistro will be bringing its decadent tortellone filled with braised venison shoulder, tonka bean, venison jus and Tasmania truffle to the market, while Surry Hills’ Masala Theory will be serving its signature Curry Bomb.

If you have a hearty appetite and room left after the first session, there’ll be even more food being served from 3.30-6pm. Award-winning chef, Annita Potter of Viand, will be joining the second session and her authentic Thai Tapioca dumplings should go straight to the top of your list of things to try on Sunday. Potter exclusively serves an eight-course degustation at her Woolloomooloo restaurant so it’s rare to get just a taste of her menu.

Seafood lovers should head to The Royal Paddington stall, where Appellation oysters with sherry mignonette and Royal red prawn sliders will be prepared. Over at the Rocker setup you can bite into a Ballina spanner crab roll.

Get a taste of traditional and modern Indian at Maya Da Dhaba and Mad Down Under, respectively. Maya Da Dhaba will be pumping out street food classics like vada pav chicken 65, honey chilli gobi and mango lassi. While Mad Down Under will be whipping up lamb seekh kebabs, chicken tikka and paneer tikka.

A truly good meal is not complete without dessert. Christopher’s Cake Shop and Forli Italian Restaurant have your sweet tooth covered. Head to Christopher’s Cake Shop for sugary goodness as they hand out kourambiedes (traditional Greek almond shortbread biscuits topped with icing sugar). Forli Italian Restaurant will be plating up slices of classic tiramisu. Mangia!

The American Express Shop Small Dining Village will be taking place from 11.30am – 6pm on Sunday, April 30, on Campbell Parade, Bondi (across from Hotel Ravesis). Entry to the public is free, wait times may apply.
