Jaffa Cake Gin is here to liven up your afternoon tea break

Jaffa Cake Gin.

The choc orange gin is made from actual distilled Jaffa Cakes.

Chocolate and orange are one of the world’s greatest culinary couples, now, imagine those flavours combined in a gin.

This new British tipple eschews the usual herbs and spices for orange peel, cocoa and McVitie Jaffa Cakes, a common afternoon tea cake made from dark chocolate and orange jam.

A drinks reviewer from Master of Malt describes the Jaffa Cake Gin as tasting uncannily like Jaffa Cakes (surprise!), with flavours of marmalade, vanilla, bitter dark chocolate and almond. “The flavour never oversteps the mark,” the reviewer says.  It’s “delicately sweet” but “not sickly or in any way liqueur-like”.

The gin is designed to be sipped straight or can be combined with Campari and vermouth to make a choc orange negroni.

Jaffa Cake Gin is available to purchase for $45 for a 700ml bottle from masterofmalt.com.
