Australians have been promised the Polly Waffle’s return since early last year and our patience is starting to wear thin. Wafer thin.
While confectioner Robern Menz continues to waffle about with production, the rest of us can get our choc marshmallow hit with The Gin Bird’s new Polly Waffle-inspired gin.
The craft gin store has teamed up with Victorian distillery That Spirited Lot to recreate the chocolate log in liquid form. To mimic the marshmallow flavours, they’ve used marshmallow root, lemon peel, almond, pistachio and ceylon vanilla, while coconut, allspice and cacao stands in for the chocolate wafer notes.
Chamaine Lovett co-founder of The Gin Birds said: “We grew up in the 80s so we know just how deliriously popular this bar is. We set a challenge to our partner distiller to create something reminiscent of this childhood icon yet grown up, and the result is a spectacular gin.”
