Lord Howe Island Distilling Co has just released its first batch of Wild Lemon and Hibiscus Gin, made from botanicals foraged from the World Heritage listed island.

The wild lemons used in the gin were first planted on Lord Howe Island by the early settlers, to help sustain them during the long periods between passing ships.

The new gin was recently crowned silver in the Australian Gin Awards 2019, where it competed against 74 craft distillers.

The Wild Lemon and Hibiscus Gin is the second gin made by Lord Howe Island Distilling Co, the first being their Wolfe Rock Navy Strength Gin, an extra strength gin named after the sometimes submerged rock along the Island’s coast which has caused the wrecking of several ships over the course of it’s history.

The Wild Lemon and Hibiscus Gin is priced at $89 for 700ml and is available to buy from various outlets around Lord Howe, Dan Murphys and boozebud.com.
