Solo introduces Hard Solo, a boozy twist on the classic lemon soft drink

If this ain't your teen years in a can, we don't know what is.

Prepare to be transported to the backyard parties of your youth. Solo, the beloved sweet and tangy lemon soft drink, is taking a bold step by introducing “Hard Solo,” an alcoholic version of its iconic beverage.

Each 375ml can contains 4.5% alcohol content, or about 1.3 standard drinks, which is far easier to track than funnelling a bottle of warm Smirnoff into a giant bottle of mixer.

For those asking what alcohol is actually in the Hard Solo? That would be ethanol, the drinkable booze that is the base of most RTDs and seltzers.

Hard Solo also boasts a lower sugar content compared to its alcohol-free counterpart, following the trend of seltzers. The pre-mix is available in packs of 10 or 30 cans, which is hectic.

The lemon drink was first released in Australia in 1968 but reached peak-Australiana with this 1983 time capsule.
