This August, the country’s best winemakers and biggest winos will gather at the National Gallery of Victoria to toast the latest edition of the 2020 Halliday Wine Companion.
Emceed by Merrick Watts and James Halliday, the annual event will celebrate the best wines in the country, as well as the launch of the new compendium.
The evening will include a special five-course degustation menu, created by Andrew Hunt, executive chef of the Gallery of Victoria, which will be accompanied by a tasting of 27 of the country’s best wines.
Those still left standing will get to hear the winners of the guide’s major categories, including Winery of the Year, Winemaker of the Year, and Best New Winery, which will be announced throughout the evening.
Esteemed wine judge James Halliday and his expert tasting panel knocked back over 9000 wines to create the vinous guide, which serves as an invaluable reference for the wine industry, as well as wine buffs and oenophiles everywhere.
