Get out your faux fur coat and vintage waistcoat, a 1950s Las Vegas-inspired cocktail bar has just opened its doors at the A by Adina hotel in the Sydney CBD. Dean and Nancy on 22 is the latest venue to join Maybe Sammy’s rat pack of cocktail bars, with all three venues inspired by the high-roller lifestyles of Frank and Nancy Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Dean Martin and their crew of Hollywood stars and celebrity crooners.

The new glass-enclosed cocktail bar is perched dramatically on level 22 of the A by Adina Hotel, promising stellar drinks backdropped by a sparkling city view. Designed by George Livissianis, the mid-century inspired space has been dressed up in black and gold for a luxe look and feel, complete with circular black leather booths, gold-veined marble tables and a baby grand piano.

Like at Maybe Sammy, guests can expect a playful, interactive and experiential drinks list. Test out your luck on the “Rolling A Double” cocktail which comes with a pair of dice. Throw a double and score a champagne upgrade. The Coffee Champagne is accompanied by a personal pot of house-made vanilla and coffee-infused hand-cream that adds to the sensory experience. Big spenders can up the ante with a cocktail from The High Rollers collection, made from premium, rare spirits (with a price tag to match).

Dean and Nancy will be the first bar of the group to offer a full menu. Jane Strode, formerly of Bistrode, has put together the impressive line-up which includes both snacks and substantial plates. The hot ticket items are set to be Strode’s Fireball, a molten cheese ball made from Kataifi pastry stuffed with ‘nduja and mascarpone, as well as the smoked eel and cauliflower bhajis served with zingy pickles.

For a bit of this and a bit of that, the menu also includes Minis and Bites which marries a mini cocktail with a mini morsel. Choose from the likes of mini vodka martini with oyster nam jim, mini kir royale with quail saltimbocca and mini adonis with rhubarb cheesecake. Can’t settle on one? You can also get all three for $55.

With A by Adina just downstairs, you don’t have to go very far if you want to sleep it off. Hotels guests that are in the mood for a nightcap, can access single serves of Maybe Sammy’s bottled cocktail collection from the mini bar.

Dean & Nancy on 22 is now open. Bar seating is available for walk-ins only. Dining tables can be booked for 2-7 people, with two sittings available at 6pm and 8.15pm.
