Vodka doesn’t own the rights to soda and lime. You heard it here first, gin with Prosecco is set to be the next big thing in the drink scene, predicts Tomlinson. “Through my international travels I’ve seen a huge resurgence of brunch culture in places like Dubai, London and New York, which has opened up the door for light and flavourful drinks like ginsecco,” he said. “It works beautifully with high strength, high flavour gins similar to the famous cocktail, the French 75.”

This is a huge favourite among cocktail-loving consumers who are starting to experiment with gin mixes, says Tomlinson. “A classic gin with its high coriander, cassia bark and juniper profiles pairs perfectly with the spicy notes in ginger beer.” Turn it into a gin Moscow Mule with a squeeze of fresh lime and a sprig of clapped mint.

Vodka has traditionally been the base spirit for juice, however gin’s complex bouquet of botanicals add an extra dimension of flavour. “Being a very versatile and occasion-based spirit, gin makes a perfect pairing with fresh fruit juices. For the perfect tropical gin and juice pairing, I would recommend an equal mix of gin and freshly pressed orange and grapefruit juice, with fresh slices of fruit to serve.”

If tonic is not your cup of tea, earl grey just might be. While it does sound a little desperate, earl grey tea has very complementary aromatics to gin. For best results, steep the tea for two hours, and serve on ice with lemon and sugar to taste.
