Asia’s best bar is coming to Australia

Singapore’s Manhattan is making its way Down Under shortly.

Singapore’s Manhattan may have been named Asia’s best bar (and the world’s 7th best for that matter), but you don’t need to buy an international flight to visit the drinking den. Because the bar will be making its way to Australia instead, as a part of a pop-up appearance at sister venue, Four Seasons Sydney.

As a result of the ‘Friends of Manhattan Series’, Manhattan will be hosted by Sydney’s Grain for one week only. The former will be bringing three of its signature cocktails and dishes to town, each inspired by the 19th Century Golden Age of fine drinking in New York. Cocktail highlights will include the New York Sour, a concoction of Michter’s US1 Bourbon, Ruby Port Wine, plum bitter and lavender maple. There will also be two exclusive drinks prepared in collaboration between Grain’s Roderick Boerma and Manhattan’s Philip Bischoff, utilising local ingredients such as Four Pillars Gin.

A number of bar snacks will be available to match the drinks, including Manhattan’s Boston Lobster Tacos (featuring yuzu kosho mayonnaise, crispy wonton and edamame flying fish roe), and its famed Crispy Chicken Burger.

“The opportunity to join forces with the world-class team and industry heavyweights at Manhattan and welcoming them to Sydney at our George Street venue is a huge honour for us,” says Boerma. Bischoff is equally excited to bring Manhattan’s creations to the harbour city. “From Berlin, Amsterdam, Sydney, Singapore and beyond, we are equally passionate about craftsmanship and celebrating the classics with unique twists, so this was the perfect partnership. We’re excited to delight cocktail aficionados and industry professionals alike with our creations,” he says.

Manhattan will be making an appearance at Sydney’s Grain from March 5, for one week only.
