Rarely do you need a reason to indulge in a margarita (or two), but if you did feel the need to excuse your tipple of choice, you would have found it on International Margarita Day.

The cocktail celebration was held on February 22 by Patron at the beloved Bondi drinking den The Bucket List. The event gathered together a handful of media and influencers to celebrate the premium tequila and the much-loved cocktail in which it holds a starring role. Guests were treated to bespoke takes on the drink, including the Patrón Tommy’s margarita and La Margarita. They were then transported from The Bucket List to enjoy George Maple’s Lover tour backstage at The Metro with a Patrón bar.

But the evening also served as an opportunity to kick off the Patrón global initiative in the search for the Margarita of the Year. The final round will see seven top bartenders from around the globe gather at Patrón’s Hacienda in Jalisco, Mexico to create their own interpretation of the margarita.
