And it tastes like a spring garden.
The annual flower fest may be off, but you can still get into the spirit of Floriade with this limited-edition pink gin.
Canberra distillery Underground Spirits has teamed up with Floriade to create an official tipple, inspired by the springtime displays. The gin is made from sustainably grown wheat grain and water from the pristine wilderness surrounding Canberra, distilled with juniper, angelica root, coriander, raspberries and native finger lime. It is said to taste juicy and earthy, with a subtly sweet floral finish.
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s Floriade festival will feature a combination of in-person experiences and virtual events. To minimise crowds, one million bulbs will be planted in a tulip trail across the city, as opposed to the usual Commonwealth Park display.
Underground Spirits’ reimaGINed limited edition pink gin is priced at $95 for a 700ml bottle from undergroundspirits.com.au and the Floriade online marketplace from September 12 – October 11, 2020.
