People are making Champagne with their SodaStream, and we're not sure how we feel

Sparkling Gold

No, we're not joking.

Jesus was right, you can turn water into wine. Sparkling wine anyway, according to Sodastream. While SodaStream became somewhat of a cult sensation years ago when it debuted its homemade alternative to pre-made soft drink cans, the brand looks same to do the same to the world of sparkling wine with the debut of its latest invention.

Sparkling Gold is an alcohol concentrate designed to be added to sparkling water with the end result what SodaStream says “resembles a fruity Riesling”. Critics take note – the drink has actually garnered praise from around the globe with independent studies labelling it as tasty as a glass of Veuve Clicquot.

Sparkling Gold is sold as a 200ml bottle, which creates up to 12 glasses of wine.  And while currently only available on the German online store, we have no doubt that the appeal of a DIY drink will demand international availability shortly.
