Brussels sprout gin is here and we're so conflicted

Brussels sprout gin.
Brussels sprout gin.

Unsurprising, it's a world first.

It’s the gin flavour that nobody asked for, yet Edinburgh distillery, Pickering’s Gin, has gone ahead and made it anyway.

While it may not be everyone’s favourite brassica, if it’s a choice between Brussels sprout gin and an actual bowl of steamed buds this Christmas, we know what we’re choosing.

The artisan tipple was naturally made from their Scotland distillery, using over 10,000 sprouts sourced from a Perthshire farm.

“Don’t let its distinctive sprouty nose fool you, our Brussels sprout gin finishes with a delightfully herbaceous, fresh green pepper twang,” the website attests.

“Try it neat with foolhardy friends or mix into a savoury style G&T with the addition of a cucumber slice.”

For now, the Brussels sprout gin is only available as part of the Pickering’s Christmas gin baubles set, along with five other flavours, which include Christmas Clementine, Festive Cranberry, Spiced Pear and Cinnamon, Figgy Pudding and Plum and Ginger. The pack of six baubles is priced at $45 with around 30ml in each decoration.

And if you thought nobody would buy it, batch one has already sold out, with the second batch scheduled to drop shortly.
