Three cheers for Her Majesty!
It’s no secret the Queen is fond of a gin and Dubonnet and now she has a brand new tipple to make it with.
This week, Queen Elizabeth has launched a fruity new gin made from her signature Buckingham Palace Gin steeped with sloe berries.
The base spirit is made from botanicals handpicked from the Buckingham Palace gardens including lemon verbena, hawthorn berries, bay leaves and mulberry leaves. The addition of sloe berries lends a bright ruby hue and intense fruit flavour to the gin.
The palate is said to be sweet with flavour characteristics of plums, marzipan and bitterness from the citrus fruits, followed by the juniper and ginger spices.

The gin also comes with a set of instructions on how to drink like a royal, which include a recipe for a Sloe Royale. The stately sipper is made from Buckingham Palace Sloe Gin topped with Champagne and garnished with fresh berries or orange peel – perfect for your next toast to the Queen.
The new spirit follows on from her London Dry Gin, which launched last July and sold out in 8 hours.
Buckingham Palace Sloe Gin is priced at £30 ($54AUD) from Royal Collection Trust shops and rct.uk/shop. All profits go to The Royal Collection Trust.
