Go check the liqueur cabinet.
For those with expensive taste – a rare bottle of 60-year-old single malt Macallan Scotch whisky has just sold at auction for $2.8m.
The Macallan Fine and Rare 60-year-old 1926 was one of just 40 bottles to come from cask number 263 and has been described by Sotherby’s auctioneers as “the holy grail” of whisky.
The prized bottle was part of a private collection by an unnamed American seller, which was made up of 467 bottles and nine casks, with the collection fetching around $14.6m for the chuffed collector.
The 700ml bottle contains around 23 nips of Scotch whisky, which works out to be around $122,000 a glass.
The record-breaking sale beat the previous record of $2.25m, which was also for a bottle of Macallan 1926 Scotch whisky, sold last year.
