Get excited.
A former adult bookshop in Sydney’s red-light district is now turning new tricks. The newly opened Kings Cross Distillery has just released its second batch of gin, and we think you’re going to love it. Like, really, really love it.
The KXD Garden Island Navy Strength Gin combines classic botanicals such as juniper, coriander and cardamom with well-known aphrodisiacs, including horny goat weed and damiana – a wild shrub from Central America that is believed to increase sexual desire.
The tempting tipple reveals hints of wild nettles, gunpowder green tea, cut grass and pepper spice on the nose, with crunchy green cucumbers, green melons and freshly cut herbs on the palate.

Just make sure you don’t have too much, at 58.5% ABV, which is significantly stronger than your typical spirit, this extra-strength gin could have you passing out on the couch before you know it.
The gin takes its name from Garden Island, an isle in Sydney’s east that was commonly used as a kitchen-garden for the officers and crew of the First Fleet’s HMS Sirius.
KXD Garden Island Navy Strength is now available online for $165 for a 700ml bottle or from Kings Cross Distillery at Shop 8, 127 Macleay Street, Potts Point.
