'Healthy' booze phenomenon White Claw is launching in Australia this year

It's going to be the summer of seltzer.

It’s the hard seltzer brand that clawed its way to the top of the drinks market in America and soon you’ll be able to try it for yourself.

White Claw is a hard seltzer, a type of alcoholic flavoured water that’s lower in carbs and calories than its alcopop equivalent.

The new boozy beverage comes in a range of fun fruity flavours, from black cherry to tangerine, natural lime, raspberry, watermelon, mango, ruby grapefruit and lemon.

In the US, White Claw has become somewhat of a cultural phenomenon. The drink dominates the hard seltzer category with 60% of the total market share, it’s also the subject of many memes, from “ain’t no laws when you’re drinking claws” to “it’s a White Claw summer, baby” so get ready to hear these phrases on repeat when the drinks finally do land.

Australian beverage company Lion has teamed up with Mark Anthony Brands International, the makers of White Claw Hard Seltzer, to exclusively distribute the drink in Australia, with plans to launch the new product in Australian bottle stores this October 2020.
