Bottoms up! A specialty sparkling event is here.
Fan of the fizzy stuff? You’re not alone. Sparkling wine, Champagne, and its related kin are some of the world’s most beloved ways to mark a special occasion. But a nearing event proves that you don’t need something to celebrate when fizzy wine is involved, just a passion for the product itself.
In early December some of Sydney’s most experimental and experienced of wine experts will be joining forces for a special event that explores fizzy wine and will convince you that the drink is well worth indulging in outside of the traditional. Titled ‘What a Fizzer‘ the event will take place at Paddington’s The Unicorn Hotel, and be held by the venue in collaboration with P&V Merchants and Mary’s.
The self-described fizzy wine tasting party will see a smorgasbord of pet nats, grower Champagne, Lambrusco, small batch sparkling wines and, select cider and wild ferment beers congregate on Saturday December 8.
All the top latest and greatest in Australian producers will be there, including Lucy Margaux, Shobbrook, Borachio, Basket Range Wines, Latta Wines, Giorgio de Maria Fun Wines, and Commune of Buttons among others.
Tickets are available for $50 and will enable you to taste your way through the 50 wines, beers, and ciders involved, as well as entitle you to a snack pack featuring the much loved Mary’s burger or fried chicken (with vegan options for those opposed to meat). For those eager for a souvenir, P&V Merchants will also be hosting a one-off bottle shop on the day, with fizzy wines sold at discount retail prices.
The event will officially run from 1.00-5.00pm, but it’s worth hanging around afterwards when an after party of sorts will take place. A special Unicorn x Mary’s food menu has been promised, alongside a secret wine list, that can be enjoyed well into the early hours.
Tickets to What A Fizzer can be purchased now online.
