The 2-minute noodle brand caused a major stir on last night’s episode of MasterChef.
Last night’s episode of MasterChef put pantry staple Maggi noodles into the spotlight.
An immunity challenge asked contestants to pimp a packet of 2-minute noodles, however, it was during a commercial break that the drama really started.
A voiceover on a Maggi commercial pronounced the noodle brand as “Madgey,” sending Twitter into a tailspin.
Many Australians admitted that they had thought the brand was pronounced “Maggie”, with a hard ‘g’. And they’re not completely wrong, either. The official Maggi website confirms that the pronunciation is “Madgey” in Australia and “Maggie” in America.
Another important fact we learned on last night’s episode of MasterChef, is that nobody actually likes Maggi noodles.
“Imagine putting Maggi noodles in the same realm as some of the noodles on display tonight,” someone commented on Twitter.
“Not going to lie, Maggi isn’t on my ranking of instant noodles,” another chimed in.
“Probably helps that the ladies picked actually good instant noodles rather than Maggi like the boys.”
“Anyone who picks the Maggi noodles loses my respect.”
And so on. What’s your take on Maggi noodles? Are they just bad or terrible? Share in the comments below.
