Snackchat: delicious. reviews Arnott's Black Forest Monte Carlos

The classic cream biscuit has been given a choc cherry makeover.

If you think Monte Carlos should not be messed with, look away. Arnott’s has launched a Black Forest rendition of its classic cream biscuit.

The new cake-inspired creation is made from two chocolate and coconut biscuits, sandwiched with vanilla and cherry cream and coated in chewy cherry jam.

Could they be better than the original? Definitely not, said delicious. food director Kerrie McCallum. “I think original is better. I feel like it’s just chocolate biscuits with the same filling…I’m not getting a lot of Black Forest-y feelings, what about you guys?”

“They need more flavour in the biscuit, I would have put some jam through the biscuit,” said assistant food editor Helena Moursellas.

Digital director John Hannan delivered a low blow. “It’s marginally better than an orange cream.”

Some harsh words were spoken, but it didn’t stop them from finishing the pack.

Art director Lauren de Sousa summed it up best. “It’s not the best biscuit I’ve ever had, but I would still eat a lot of them.”

Monte Carlo Black Forest is currently available to purchase from Woolworths for $3 per packet.
