Eat Out

Attica and The Avalanches are throwing a free 'house party' and you're invited

House party.

Melbourne, you've got Saturday night plans.

Put the six-pack in the fridge and bring out the nuts. Ben Shewry from Attica is teaming up with Robbie Chater and Tony Di Blasi from The Avalanches to throw a free virtual house party for Melbourne on Saturday, September 12.

The idea of A Party for Melbourne was conceived by Shewry and The Avalanches as a way to cheer up those affected by the Covid-19 lockdown.

“The idea for A Party for Melbourne grew out of our friendship with Ben and Kylie [Staddon] from Attica,” said Di Blasi and Chater. “We began to think about what we can do for this city that has nurtured us. How do we say thank you to Melburnians for their sacrifices during lockdown, and also offer a light at the end of the tunnel? We have watched people struggle desperately with mental health, lose businesses, and so much more. This is a love letter and a thank you to this city that has supported us for so long.”

If you’ve forgotten exactly how to party, never fear. Ben Shewry will be posting a series of reminder videos prior to the event. The videos will show you how to throw a bash to remember, from party food ideas (including recipes for pineapple hedgehogs and “hectic” prawn cocktails) to styling.

On the night of September 12, the party will kick off with a support set from DJ Soju Gang, followed by a set from The Avalanches – so don’t go too hard too soon (and if you do, at least you wake up in your own home.)

Shewry’s ‘How to Party’ video series will premiere Saturday, September 5 on the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival’s website, as well as on the social media channels of Shewry, Attica and Melbourne Food & Wine Festival.

Attica x The Avalanches: A Party for Melbourne
will be held at 7.30pm, Saturday 12 September at your house.
