The Australian Pork industry has partnered with a number of Aussie restaurants to launch Hospo4Hospo, a new initiative that’s focussed on feeding hospitality workers.

Hospo4Hospo will kick off tonight at Bloodwood in Newtown, where chef Claire Van Vuuren will be creating 100 serves of pork vermicelli noodles for those in foodservice doing it tough. If that’s you, simply drop by between 6:30pm and 8:30pm to collect your free meal.

Mitch Edwards, who oversees the Australian Pork Limited foodservice programs, said: “It’s been a hugely challenging and confronting time for the foodservice industry, which is why pig farmers and the pork industry are teaming up with chefs and restaurants to offer hospitality workers a chance to enjoy a free takeaway meal, share a smile and a socially-distanced chat.

“For the pork industry, foodservice represents about 25% of sales in Australia and that’s obviously taken a massive hit. However, this initiative is a small way our producers can give back to an industry that has supported them through the good times and the bad. For everyone else, now’s the time to order takeaway or home delivery without guilt, because you’re supporting the cafes, restaurants, their staff and suppliers,”  Mr Edwards said.

If tonight’s a hit, Hospo4Hospo will pop up at Indu in Sydney and Sauma in Perth on Wednesday, April 1, followed by Fremantle’s Young George on Thursday, April 2.
