Swap that sauso roll for sushi or a salted caramel pudding.

Next time you’re hit with the midnight munchies, you might be surprised to find new gourmet options, beyond the Gatorade and Cheetos.

David Jones and BP have announced plans to launch 21 dual-branded convenience stores in Sydney and Melbourne this year.

The joint venture could see your local petrol station stocked with some 350 goodies by David Jones Food, from fresh sushi and sandwiches to free-range rotisserie chooks, lasagne, mac ‘n’ cheese and curries, as well as desserts including panna cotta and salted caramel pudding.

You can either stock up the next time you fill up, or put in an order for delivery with Uber Eats.

“We know consumer needs are changing, especially during the current pandemic,” said BP Australia Vice President Sales and Marketing, Brooke Miller. “Our strategy to lead the transformation of convenience retailing in Australia is resonating with our customers who lead busy lives and want easy access to healthy and delicious food, alongside BP’s other high-quality products and fuel offers.”

After launching its first dual-branded store in November last year, new high-end BP convenience stores have since popped up in Brighton, Brighton East, South Melbourne, Greensborough, Ringwood and Glen Waverley in Melbourne and Rozelle, Artarmon, Kingsford and Ashfield in Sydney.

Twenty-one new sites have been earmarked for 2020, including Merrifield, Clyde, Epping, Caroline Springs, Eltham, Greenvale and Kingsway in Melbourne, and Kellyville, Marsden Park, Seven Hills, Willoughby, Caringbah, Mosman, Sydenham, Penrith, Thornleigh, Asquith, Engadine, Peninsula, West Ryde and Ourimbah in Sydney.
