Major supermarkets to open Easter Sunday this year

Here's what is open over the Easter long weekend.

Easter trading is set to look a little different this year, with many major supermarkets staying open throughout the long weekend.

Good Friday

Woolworths will be mostly open in the NSW and ACT, with trading hours typically running from 11am to 5pm. In Western Australia, the Northern Territory and South Australia, most stores will close.

Most Coles supermarkets in NSW, the ACT and the Northern Territory will stay open from 11am to 5pm, while stores in Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania will close.

Aldi, Kmart, Dan Murphy’s and Bunnings will close nationwide on Good Friday.

Easter Saturday

Major supermarkets and retailers, including Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, Kmart, Bunnings, Dan Murphy’s, will reopen across the country, with slightly varied trading hours.

Easter Sunday

For the first time, most Coles and Woolworths will open across the country on Easter Sunday and will keep to regular trading hours. All Aldi stores will close.

Exceptions include Coles at Sydney’s Brighton Le Sands and Woolworths’ Sydney Metro stores on George Street, in Haymarket and Strawberry Hills.

Easter Monday

Most supermarkets will trade as per usual on Monday.  Woolworths will trade regular hours at most stores, with reduced hours in South Australia, and some Metro stores to close.

Coles will mostly be open for Easter Monday. Most stores will be open their regular Monday trading hours, with reduced hours in South Australia.

Aldi stores will open across the country, with reduced hours in South Australia.

Opening hours may vary store-to-store. Check your local supermarket’s trading hours to avoid disappointment.
