Cubby's Kitchen finds a new home at Bondi Beach

Cubby's Kitchen

Shish kebabs meet Sambuca shots at this buzzy new kitchen and bar.

Perennial pop-up Cubby’s Kitchen has made the move out east, with the venue opening its second outpost in the former Blanca site at Bondi Beach.

The laidback Lebanese eatery is co-owned by Toko Group’s Matt Yazbek with friend and former NRL Player, Anthony Watmough. The venue started life as a pop-up on Crown Street, Surry Hills and has since opened a permanent site in the Sydney CBD.

Cubby’s is known for its lively atmosphere and generous servings, making it a favourite for fuss-free dinners as well as family gatherings and groups. The shared menu is made up of traditional dishes with a twist, from the baba ganoush with burnt sesame and miso to the Cubby’s fried chicken, seasoned with za’atar and served with garlic aioli. There’s also a selection of wood-fired skewers, from a succulent chicken shish with garlic lemon dressing to lamb kafta with mint yoghurt.

Go one step further and save yourself the decision-making with the Cubby’s Love Banquet, which includes a nine-course feast chosen by the chef for $56 per person.

The drinks menu ticks off all the main varietals, with offerings from both Australia and Lebanon, with BYO wine also available ($15 corkage per bottle).

If the pumping music puts you in the mood for a big night out, the venue also serves Sambuca shots and araktinis made from Levantine firewater.
