It's been a lifelong dream for the Melbourne-born chef.

A round of applause for Maude. The LA restaurant owned by Curtis Stone has just been awarded its very first Michelin star.

“This has been a lifelong dream! It belongs to each and every one of my @mauderestaurant team who have made it a reality,” said Curtis Stone in a post on Instagram.

“But we’re not done yet! We’re so grateful for what we’ve achieved but are back at the stoves to keep pushing it,” he said.

The Melbourne-born chef opened Maude, his first solo restaurant, in Beverly Hills in 2014. Both Maude, and his second restaurant Gwen, are named after his grandmothers, who were Stone’s first culinary mentors.

The degustation-only restaurant serves a menu inspired by the great wine growing regions of the world, with a focus on one region at a time. Right now, the menu shines a spotlight on Sonoma in California, but in the past, that has included the Margaret River, as well as Rioja, Burgundy, and Piedmont.

While Curtis currently has no restaurants in Australia, he is best known back home for his television appearances, which include Masterchef, Surfing the Menu and My Kitchen Rules.
