Loosen your belts: the delicious. 100 is back for 2023!

Ever wondered who makes the best banh mi, the nicest vanilla slice or the most delicious doughnut in your area?

This year, the delicious. 100 focuses on the 20 most-searched food categories – from pizza and pies to fish & chips and tacos. Whatever you’re craving, we have it covered.

The guide rounds up the best offerings across five states covering New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and – for the first time – Tasmania.

delicious. Editor-in-Chief Krysia Bonkowski said Australians were spending less on fine dining and more on accessible food experiences, such as a treat from their local bakery or casual offerings at local cafes and pubs.

But despite the challenges posed by current economic pressures, Australians were still eager to find the best local dishes on offer, Bonkowski said.

“We’ve been on the hunt for the best food discoveries in the country. Diners are hungry to know where they can find the best ramen in town, or the best taco in the state – and we think we’ve done the heavy lifting… or eating!

“Australia is a food-loving nation. We love to seek out new culinary experiences, taking delight in exploring different cuisines and discovering hidden gems in our neighbourhoods. While we may be more conscious of our spending, we’re still enthusiastic about dining out. It’s a culinary renaissance of sorts. This list is a celebration of a more varied, dynamic food scene, celebrating both cost-effective eats and splurge-worthy treats.”
