Please never do that to us again, Poh.
It’s the first elimination of the season and no one wants to be the first to go home because it’s kind of embarrassing.
The contestants unwrap Gordon Ramsay’s gift and to say it is a disappointment is an understatement. Inside the box is a timer with 90 minutes on it, and it’s not even a very nice timer. It’s the ‘gift of time’ apparently, and just try giving that to your kids next Christmas.

Jock explains: “you’ve been given 90 minutes to cook with. It seems like a lot, but it’s a two-round challenge. You can use as much of the 90 minutes as you like in round one, but if you find yourself in round two, you’ll only have the time that’s left on the clock to cook your dish.” Thanks Gordon, everyone mumbles.
Reynold announces that he’s going to make a savoury dish and we all collectively shout “NO!” from our sofas.
However, when it comes to bad decisions, Poh takes the cake. The season one favourite and queen of our hearts makes the extraordinary decision to gamble her entire 90-minute cook on a four-hour lychee strawberry chiffon cake and, honestly, who really needs that kind of stress on a Sunday?

Thankfully, she pulls it off and her cake comes off looking like Poh-fection. But seriously Poh, don’t you ever, ever, do that to us again.
The judges name Rose, Lynton, Hayden, Courtney and Chris as the bottom five contestants so they will need to return for round two.
After his chunky tartare failed to impress the judges, Chris steps it up with a Basque cheesecake, which he garnishes with a little story about his gran to seal the deal.
Meanwhile, Courtney delivers the goods with a cauliflower steak and cashew tarator. “Every element is like pinging off the plate,” says Andy, and wow, we might have to try that one for ourselves.

Lynton, however, plates up a beige dish of buckwheat and crab, and we can only assume that he’s had enough and wants to go home to spend the ‘gift of time’ with his family.
