Amir finally gets beet and Sabina doesn’t carrot all.
Another day, another road trip to places that nobody can visit. Today it’s the idyllic country town of Daylesford, where rolling hills meet lush green pastures, and way to rub it in MasterChef.
The contestants are taken to Dairy Flat Farm, the estate of acclaimed chef Alla Wolf-Tasker, where the bottom four from yesterday’s crayfish challenge will battle it out in an ovary-free elimination.
To secure their spot in the competitions, the contestants will need to create a winning vegetarian dish using fresh produce harvested from the farm.
We have a good feeling about Sabina’s dish and not just because her nickname is beans. She’s using the garden’s in-season carrots to make a bright and colourful pickle with whipped curd and foraged pesto, and styling it a la Alla Wolf-Tasker.
Linda discovers that Andy has come in early and cleared the gardens of chilli (presumably), making it hard for her to balance her tomato broth. She adds a hit of mountain pepper for a little extra warmth and that judges love it, with Alla Wolf-Tasker describing it as a “party in her mouth”.
Alla really doesn’t get out of the garden much it seems #MasterChefAU

Once again, Jock doesn’t quite get Minoli’s dish but Andy certainly does. “The beetroot tastes like beetroot,” he says, nailing it on the head.
Let this be a lesson Jock – NEVER doubt Minoli when she describes a dish you find confusing! #MasterChefAU

Amir is making a Middle Eastern-inspired beetroot kebab with tabouli and flatbread. Pete tells him “this is the smartest I’ve ever seen you,” with an emphasis on the “ever” and we’re not exactly sure it was the right thing to say in that moment, or any moment for that matter.
Pete with the best backhanded compliment of the day. #MasterChefAU

In a last bid attempt to stay in the competition, Amir gets out his biceps but it’s too late, not even those fabulous guns can save him now. The judges are impressed by how he’s managed to both overcooked and undercook his beetroot skewers, which is why Amir and his very muscly arms are going home today.
Beetrooted. #MasterChefAU

And as punishment for ruining those fresh garden beets, Amir is forced to walk home from Daylesford, which should take him around three days.

Join us on Wednesday night when the contestants go on a culinary quest through the streets of Melbourne.
