If only all Deliveroo experiences were like that.
It’s home delivery night in the MasterChef kitchen, and finally, some dinner inspiration we can actually use.
Tonight, we’re taking a break from supporting the hospitality industry to supporting the food delivery services that rip them off. Specifically Deliveroo, you know, the app you use when all the Uber Eats drivers are busy.
The contestants are split into three teams of four. Each team must create a three-course home delivery menu of 60 servings. Which means, some lucky person probably ate Kishwar’s curry months ago and didn’t even realise it.
The orange team, headed up by Scott, has decided to make duck red curry. They decide to just use the marylands and ducking hell, that’s an awful lot of food waste.
We went from using the ovaries to wasting 30 ducks. #MasterChefAU

The purple team, headed up by Maja, is making lamb Chettinad. The judges tell them they need to increase their portions, so Depinder decides to add green capsicum to bulk it up – because everyone loves a majority green capsicum dish.
Capsicum ruins everything always #MasterchefAU

The green team, headed up by Aaron, is making a black pepper beef curry, but they are struggling to get their food out on time.
Calm down guys. I’m used to having my food delivered later than the estimated time. #MasterChefAU

Cut to a team of Deliveroo drivers, arriving at the MasterChef kitchen like a brightly-coloured moped gang.
The food is then delivered to the judges at the front of the room, which kind of defeats the purpose of a home delivery challenge in the first place.
The judges’ portions should have been driven round the block a few times and then thrown at them by a moped rider who doesn’t give a shit. #MasterChefAU

Surprisingly, the dishes arrive intact and nothing is missing – are you sure this is a Deliveroo challenge?
In the end, the purple team is penalised for only having one Depinder, who managed to cook and organise most things, but not all things tonight. Which means, the purple team will go through to a pressure test tomorrow night, where one contestant will go home and it better not be Depinder or Pete. Or Maja. Or Tommy for that matter.
