Attention cool cats and kittens.
Din Tai Fung is back at it again, with a new range of super cute tiger buns to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
This year’s dessert creation comes loaded with oozy, molten chocolate and Lotus Biscoff filling, wrapped in a pillowy steamed bun, which has been adorably decorated to look like your favourite feline.
But man cannot live on chocolate buns alone. Luckily, there’s plenty of other auspicious and delicious menu items to kick off your Lunar New Year feast.
Usher in a year of wealth and prosperity with Din Tai Fung’s new gold fortune dumplings, filled with scallop and pork, and wrapped in yellow pastry to resemble gold ingots.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Lunar New Year without a prosperity toss salad (yusheng). Din Tai Fung has recreated the traditional dish using a rainbow of lucky ingredients, including smoked salmon and raw sliced vegetables in a special housemade plum sauce. This dish is designed to be tossed at the table by each dinner guest. The higher the toss, the more prosperous the incoming year is said to be.
For those wanting to celebrate at home or looking to send the perfect feast to extended families and friends, Din Tai Fung has put together a frozen Lunar New Year hamper priced at $108. The frozen feast includes all the crowd favourites from xiao long bao to kung pao chicken, spicy wonton noodles, tiger buns, gold fortune dumplings and more. All dishes are easy to reheat, taking under 10 minutes to steam, boil or microwave.

Get your claws into the Lunar New Year menu at all Din Tai Fung locations in Sydney and Melbourne from January 24 – February 15. The yusheng salad is only available at Din Tai Fung stores in World Square, Emporium Melbourne, Westfield Chatswood and Miranda or for frozen delivery. For more details, head to dintaifung.com.au.
