Golden Century is back in business after creditors voted to save the Chinatown institution from closure.

The restaurant had been placed into voluntary administration in August this year, following a dispute over the lease, and loss of income due to the extended Sydney lockdown.

Famous for its tank-to-wok style cooking, the live seafood restaurant had been owned and run by Eric and Linda Wong for over 30 years.

The $4.5 million rescue plan will see $2.4 million gathered from company assets and cash contribution to clear the business of its debts.

Part of this will be funded by the sale of its impressive wine cellar, with an anonymous buyer offering $1.15 million for the collection.

Golden Century is slated to re-open in Sydney once the restrictions are lifted, and now you’ve got twice as many reasons to make a booking.
